So THAT's what the labcoats are for! (publicity photos)

I was end-labeling some RNA with 32P earlier today and, since I didn't really want radioactive stuff on my person, I decided to wear a labcoat. It occurred to me that this was quite possibly the first time I'd ever donned such a garment since coming to Berkeley. Mind you, I have worn labcoats before (like when I used to remove brains and spinal cords from immunocompromised mice back at Jane Welsh's lab), just never here at Berkeley, and never while holding something that was as hot as a two-dollar pistol.

So obviously we decide to document the occasion. Looking suitably scientific, I visually inspect the radiolabeled RNA and ponder the yet-to-be-revealed mysteries within... science requires a lot of pondering.

It looks much cooler if you flip the collar up. But it does, I swear...

You're totally right. I can't believe I forgot to pop dat colla'. Someone who gets it right though is my buddy Dave:

Dave's Canadian, so being cool just comes naturally.
